Neon Cost Performance

Neon autosuspend disabled — compute bills as always-on

Part of the Idle compute cost check · fix arrives as a guide

What it is

Autosuspend is disabled on a compute endpoint, so it never scales to zero.

Why it matters

Neon bills compute by the second it is running. With autosuspend off you pay 24 hours a day regardless of traffic, which for a project with any quiet period is most of the bill for none of the work.

How to fix it

Enable autosuspend with a short timeout — five minutes suits most workloads. Cold start is typically under a second, so the latency cost on the first request after idle is small.
